BUBBLES 101 (1 hour or 2 ½ hours)
Are you ready to get your hands wet and participate in bubble experiments? This is a hands-on, hands-wet, participatory session of fun and exploration! Join us as we set up and conduct a plethora of bubble experiments.
Lending Library and Home-School Connections (1 hour)
Develop a lending library that you can send home with students. Give them a bag with a reading book and activity to do with their family. This will foster a love of reading, encourage spending quality time together, demonstrate age appropriate activities and develop good homework habits.
Rocks and Soil (1 hour)
Have you ever had a rock collection or made mud pies? Many children have too. Use this high interest topic to examine, explore and discuss rocks and soil through a variety of hands-on math and science activities. Develop reading/language arts skills through the stories and projects. Children will be able to make discoveries and continue the fun on the playground or in their own backyard.
Magnificent Magnet Experiments (1 hour)
Do you like to learn through exploration and experimentation? So do your kids! Come play with magnets and discover ways to integrate science and reading/language arts with hands-on experiments. We will discuss a five day unit plan, pacing, introducing and reinforcing concepts and share resources.
Exhilarating Insects (1hour)
Don’t be afraid of insects, become an entomologist! Learn a little about the insects, see some great resources, make some fun projects and take ideas back to use in your classroom.
Nursery Rhyme Mathematics (1hour)
Join me as we do more than just recite the age old nursery rhymes! We are measuring, estimating, graphing and having fun learning. We will conclude with a Nursery Rhyme Olympics.
Read, Write, Learn, Explore: Literacy, Science and Math Galore (all day)
Read, Write, Learn and Explore Bubbles, Magnets, Rocks and Insects. Get dirty with rocks and soil and get wet with bubbles! Share ideas about how to balance hands-on activities with meaningful writing. Use fiction and nonfiction books to support and extend hands-on learning. We'll also talk about classroom management of how to balance large group, small group and independent activities. We'll share journaling that can be used as summative assessment, parent communication and guidance for further instruction. Bring a colleague to laugh, play and learn with!
